A ‘Walking Tour’ Through Christmas In Charleston: Five Ways To Get Into The Holiday Spirit
Happy Holidays, from all of us at Charleston Culinary Tours! If you’re anything like we are, you know that the holiday season and Christmas time in Charleston is truly ‘the most wonderful time of the year’ — or at least one of them. We love to have the opportunity to spend extra time with loved ones, family and friends, and make new friends as well.
But if you struggle to get into the holiday spirit, or could just use some ideas to make it feel more ‘merry and bright,’ then you’re in luck. Today we’re sharing a list of five activities that are certain to be enjoyable this month, and well into the new year.
Make no mistake, Charleston is a world-class city all year long, but it really takes things up a notch during the holidays. And because no holiday would be complete without a walking tour through neighborhoods decorated in lights, or a great meal with friends, we’ve provided the following list. Whether you’re a local, just visiting, or hosting company in for the holidays, we have some recommendations you’ll want to bookmark and enjoy!
Five Ways To Get Into The Christmas Spirit
1. Plan a visit to King Street.
This street makes the list of must-see spots on many travel lists, and with good reason. Upper King Street, in particular, has emerged as an exciting place-to-be and be seen. It’s full of creativity, energy, and great places to both shop for gifts and eat a great meal. It’s a perfect spot for people watching, as well, or to have a quick coffee or drink while watching the crowds.
2. Visit the Charleston City Market.
It’s historic, and it’s all decked out for Christmas at this time of year. The area is also full of shops and scheduled activities, and features artisan made items perfect for gift giving — or to keep for yourself as a treat for staying nice when your schedule is overbooked during the holidays. It’s also a wonderful way to enjoy a little ‘hustle and bustle’ if getting out puts you into the spirit of the season. There’s both a day and evening market.
3. Take a walking tour, mixology tour, or culinary tour.
There’s a reason why walking tours make the list of top things to do in Charleston in many publications! The local cuisine is world class, and the city is vibrant with people, southern hospitality and charm. Of course, we recommend that you peek at our website for more information on the many tours we have available. There’s sure to be something for everyone. Eat local with a farmer’s market tour, meet the chef’s with a personalized kitchen tour, or just have a great meal in the historic part of the city. The choice is yours, and we promise you’ll want to come back for more.
4. Take a ride in a carriage.
If the hustle and bustle of crowds aren’t necessarily your thing, book a special carriage ride in the historic part of the city to get into the holiday spirit instead. You can book tours throughout the holiday season — even on Christmas, if tickets haven’t sold out — to take a ride and view the lights, and have a special quiet evening. You can book your ticket individually, as a couple or family, or in a larger group. You can even get a package that includes a culinary tour or walking tour. (We have a recommended partner, if this sounds like something you’d enjoy.)
5. Book a Private Chef for an event at home.
Don’t much feel like cooking, but still want to host the perfect meal for family, friends, or a special someone? Give yourself the gift of the perfect meal prepared by a chef for a personalized event. And we happen to know the perfect people to make that event special. Check out your options on our website, here.
And there you have it. If there’s anything we can do to serve you with a first-class Charleston experience, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
