Welcome to Charleston Culinary Tours, where every bite tells a story and every dish is a chapter in the rich history of this charming city. Established in 2011 by Guilds Hollowell, a sixth-generation Charleston native, our journey through the flavors of Charleston is steeped in tradition and passion.
Guilds’ roots in Charleston run deep, having grown up in Mount Pleasant in the very house that now stands as the Charles Pinckney National Historical Site. It’s a home that holds tales of the past, where even President George Washington once set foot. Raised amidst the waterways that weave through the Charleston area, Guilds cultivated a connection to the sea, working on tugboats and engaging in the time-honored practices of fishing, crabbing, and shrimping.
A proud alum of Porter-Gaud High School, Guilds fostered lasting relationships with the diverse tapestry of Charleston’s restaurant groups and families. His upbringing and network laid the foundation for what would become Charleston Culinary Tours.
Guilds Hollowell is more than just the founder; he is the heart and soul of our culinary adventure. A natural storyteller, you’ll often find him striking up conversations on the streets, sharing tales of days gone by and the evolution of this historic city. It’s this passion for storytelling that inspired the creation of Charleston Culinary Tours ? a desire to ensure that people not only have a good time but also leave with a deeper understanding of Charleston’s vibrant past.
