For Charlestonians feeling like a fall weekend away, we always recommend visiting beautiful Beaufort, SC. With gorgeous Lowcountry scenery and plenty of great dining experiences to choose from, it’s a perfect change of pace for those needing a quick breather before the holiday season kicks into high gear! Check out this list of some of our favorite spots for bites in Beaufort before you head on south!

Scout Sweet Tea bar – The Scout shop on Bay Street in downtown Beaufort stocks beautiful home goods, clothes, and sundry delights, but the real treat lies in the back of the shop at the Scout Sweet Tea bar. Shoppers can order their signature Sweet Tea Float- a glass of sweet, unsweet, or half-and-half tea adorned with scoops of fruit-flavored sorbet. We recommend a half-and-half tea with lemon or peach sorbet! This creative take on a Southern specialty makes for the perfect kick of flavor and caffeine to enjoy while walking Beaufort’s main shopping street.

The Foolish Frog – Located right on top of a scenic marsh on St. Helena island, the Foolish Frog is an ideal place to grab a leisurely brunch or lunch while gazing out over the picturesque Lowcountry landscape. With a menu featuring classic specialties like fried okra, oysters, and a Frogmore boil, any lover of Southern cuisine will find something to enjoy. We highly recommend the Crawfish and Shrimp Yum Yum Ya Ya- an inventive blend of cajun and Lowcountry flavors with a delicious grit cake thrown in that elevates this otherwise casual spot to something truly remarkable.

Saltus River Grill – If you’re looking for a classy night out on the town, Saltus is your spot. With outdoor seating that looks out across the Beaufort River, this upscale eatery offers a seafood-focused menu, resplendent with mussels, shrimp, a bountiful lobster roll salad, and even fresh sushi rolls. If your date prefers steak, there are robust cuts available with a number of savory topping options. Don’t forget to grab a glass of Veuve Clicquot to make the evening extra special!

Corner Perk  – For a hearty brunch with the option to pay the deliciousness forward, check out Corner Perk in Port Royal. This cozy cafe offers lattes in a variety of fun flavors, like Churro, alongside breakfast skillets, biscuits, artisan toasts, and customizeable omelettes. Guests that are feeling generous can buy a pay-it-forward coffee and personalize your gift by writing an intended giftee like “travel nurse”, “tired mom”, or “firefighter” on a coffee cup sleeve, and pinning the sleeve to their pay-it-forward corkboard to be discovered and used in the future.

Hosting your own vacationers instead of getting out of town yourself? Grab them tickets to our Dessert with Death evening experience! Guests will enjoy a 5-course dessert menu while hearing some of Charleston’s most mysterious and ghoulish tales – a perfect event for the spooky season!
